Sports were never really my strong suit growing up. I've played tennis my entire life and live for college football Saturdays and NFL Sundays, but I felt my skills were best in the stands cheering on my favorite teams. (I'm terribly clumsy and not coordinated.) However, something changed when I moved to Dallas a few years ago. This is a fit city, and I fell in love with that fast. Fitness became more of a lifestyle for me. After doing Crossfit my first few years here, my body needed a break. So, I stumbled into a yoga studio that had a strength-based, hot-style class; it was right up my alley. I even teach it now! Mixing up my routine is what keeps me engaged and entertained, which is why Social Mechanics is a perfect fit for me. Now, a combination of spin, yoga, and Social Mechanics is what keeps me a happy camper.
FAVORITE MOVEMENT IN A WORKOUT
Deadlift. Hands down it makes me feel super strong. That and pull ups, only because I couldn't do them without the band before joining the gym. I'm working towards 5 unbroken now!
WORDS TO LIVE BY
"You can only control what's in your sphere of influence."
n the gym, it prevents me from comparing my effort/work to that of another athlete. I can only control my body, so I make the most of it and learn to be content. Outside of Social Mechanics, you can't control how other people treat you. You can only control how you react and decide how to treat them. It works everywhere!
WHAT FITNESS GOALS ARE YOU CURRENTLY PURSUING?
Be the best version of myself. It's a matter of how I feel, and frankly, this is the best I've ever felt about my body in 28 years. I'm not stopping this momentum!
FAVORITE CHEAT MEAL
Queso. Or any Asian dish. Or anything covered in ranch. Maybe all of these at the same time. Now I'm drooling in the middle of elimination October. Oy!
