get to know
I grew up in Seattle playing sports like soccer, gymnastics, martial arts, and dive. I enlisted in the Navy in 2008 as an Electronic Warfare Operator aboard the P3 Orion and P8 Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft. I’ve deployed overseas 3 times, earned my Bachelor’s degree, and have orders to serve in Dallas until 2023.
I’m a designated command fitness leader, CrossFit level 1 trainer, and avid yogi. I teach Acro Yoga classes with my girlfriend @paigeforrest, am currently pursuing my NASM personal training certification, and have my eyes set on yoga teacher training in the future.
I discovered my passion for Olympic lifting and functional mobility/recovery on a deployment to Djibouti, Africa in 2012. Learning how to optimize my fitness and correct movement/muscle deficiencies among my peers sparked a hunger for knowledge that I’m honored and excited to share with our gym (you) today. If you’re interested in proper lifting mechanics and mobility, I highly recommend the book by CrossFit founder, Kelly Starrett, titled “Becoming a Supple Leopard”.
I’m a nerd in disguise, I have a weakness for sprinkles cupcakes. My favorite HG dish is the Yellow Chicken Curry ;).
A lot of my personal playlist inspiration on Spotify from #spotfiycreamy (melodic electronica/ juicy bass drops) and #swagger (high-octane rock/Americana). I spend my evenings digging through SoundCloud for remixes that drop “just right”.
I found SM when I moved to Dallas in 2016 and was drawn to its focus on my fitness priorities - building functional strength and mobility through accessible movements in a constructive, friendly environment. I took some time off to pursue other interests, but reconnected when Paige mentioned she had coffee with her friend (and owner) of a gym that was looking for trainers. I met with Cristen and knew that I wanted to be part of her fitness fam. The whole team has been so supportive and flexible with my hectic Navy (flight) schedule - I couldn’t have asked for a better group of people to grow stronger with. Thank you all for letting me share and learn with you in this truly special place we call SOCIAL MECHANICS.
